Friday grit for ya…do you have true grit?
One cannot change what one does not know.
Wealthy counties which are on the decline seem ostensibly humming along just great to the Citizens of that country. Why? One quick answer is the size of stored up wealth. Even as the country is on a serious decline, to the average laity it looks like nothing has changed beyond a small nuisance price increase, or small ominous tremors spaced months apart. Until, well, until the wheels fall off! This is the grimy and nasty stuff of reality. Only a few keen eyes and minds see such tell-tale shifts in trends. Several other reasons exist however.
There may be some transient benign economic winds to help keep the illusion of “nothing is wrong dude!” But, the trajectory is still toward the decline, ever so slightly by seconds and degrees, in due course of time erosion takes its toll until the next generation lives poorer than the previous generation. In 2016, I met only a few people from all over that said everything is fine. “You think the country will suffer a major economic setback?”, they said. 2021 is different. A bartender just said the other day, “Michelob Ultra, here you go. Saved you some money”. A, what? I never heard a bartender tell me they saved me a buck or two! Times are changing. The decline is showing its ugly face, and whatever benign and seemingly auspicious trends there may be, they are not helping to solidify a trend toward the better. You decide.
This does not mean we have to be poor. However, it means at least two new things that we “must” do, or could do, to make the shift for the better, but first not without some pain. One thing we could do is educate ourselves about how to build economics and learn some law. We can check out why the gold system was in place before 1971, and why gold is making a comeback: Banks are buying gold at record rates, see SRSroccoreport.com. IMF has 90 some million ounces of physical gold in private storage. Why do you think central banks bought and placed physical gold in their storage? That is for you to learn and to find out! This is not a letter about assets. Getting even with debt and placing a damper stop on buying stuff is another one. This means short term pain ( 5 years minimum of frugality and thrift) of not having all of our “toys” now , and more toys tomorrow! One can live surprisingly well without many toys. It is actually freeing to the mind. I have a nice set of business shirts and three suits with dress shoes. I had them since 2013, and I bought one suit in 2017. Since 2017, I didn’t really go shopping. I love it. This is freedom. Freedom from wanting to buy, buy, buy, yet owning a few really good things- a home, a business, a technical degree, a lucrative vocation, a steady job, and health!
Third reason: go independent and local. This means figuring out your municipal pals in charge and telling them to get lost. We cannot change the national government right now, so start from bottom up. Google “Cheran” it is a city in Mexico. They stopped voting; kicked out their politicians and believe it or not they kicked out the police, too! So what are the City stats? Crime decreased by 90% for one. Do not take me wrong, I am not an advocate for defunding the police like some people rail about. Next, focus on what is immediate to you- your debt, your business, your family, your church, your city.
All of this doing by you will cause more work and pain because we want to shift the country’s trajectory from economic ruin, to first, a burgeoning moderate improvement path. The key words are - shift, trajectory, moderate, solid, improvement. You cannot change what you do not know.

Cheran kicked out their corrupt government.
Note: “self-government” is a misnomer a caconym (bad name). People are self-governing it is why we setup a government system in the first place, LOL. We have always been self-governing.
Happy Friday! And talk to your frugal bartenders.
